Godwin is a Senior Associate in our Energy and Infrastructure department. His expertise spans advising on energy, natural resources and infrastructure matters including structuring and project developments, mergers and acquisitions, financing, restructurings, regulatory, due diligence, and tax.

His clients include ExxonMobil, Tullow Ghana Limited, Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy), Kosmos Energy Ghana, Aker Energy/AGM, Qatar Petroleum, Newmont and Kinross.

Godwin holds an LLB from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST)  and a qualifying certificate from the Ghana School of Law. He also holds a certificate in International Oil and Gas Law, Contracts, and Negotiations jointly issued by the Association of International Energy Negotiators, the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law, and the Institute for Energy Law. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation).

  • Lead associate for Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) on the proposed transfer of its interests in the DWT and WCTP petroleum blocks offshore Ghana held through Anadarko WCTP Company and resolution of the related tax disputes with the GRA concerning the transfer tax and an audit.
  • Lead associate for Valaris plc (formerly EnscoRowan) in connection with the debt restructuring of the company and its global subsidiaries.
