Godwin is a Senior Associate in our Energy and Infrastructure department. His expertise spans advising on energy, natural resources and infrastructure transactions, projects and related matters including transaction structuring, project developments, mergers and acquisitions, financing, regulatory, and due diligence.

Godwin also has interests in tax and regularly advises clients on Ghanaian tax matters.

His clients include Tullow Ghana, Kosmos Energy, PGS, LITASCO SA, AngloGold Ashanti, Newmont and Kinross.

Godwin holds an LLB from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST)  and a qualifying certificate from the Ghana School of Law. He also holds a certificate in International Oil and Gas Law, Contracts, and Negotiations jointly issued by the Association of International Energy Negotiators, the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law, and the Institute for Energy Law. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation).

  • Advising Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) on the sale of its interests in the DWT and WCTP petroleum blocks offshore Ghana held through Anadarko WCTP Company and settlement of outstanding transfer tax and other outstanding tax issues.
  • Advising Lukoil International Trading and Supply Company (LITASCO SA) in connection with an up to ~USD 430 million refinancing facility to GNPC.
  • Advising Impala Terminals in connection with the acquisition (and financing) of Puma Energy’s fuel storage business in Ghana.
  • Advising Boston Investments Limited, an Actis subsidiary, in connection with the sale of the One Airport Square (OAS).
