Jonathan is a Senior Associate in the Financial Institutions & Capital Market practice group with over 5 years’ experience in legal practice. He has provided general legal advice and assistance to regulators and clients within the financial services industry. Jonathan has advised on diverse corporate finance transactions (including debt and equity capital markets transactions), asset finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions transactions, repo and derivatives transactions, restructuring and insolvency, and financial technology transactions. He has also advised clients on the establishment and operations of fund management companies as well as mutual, private equity, venture capital and exchange traded funds.

Jonathan has assisted with major and complex transactions involving various noteworthy clients including the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Ghana Stock Exchange, Scancom Plc and Caterpillar Financial Services.

Jonathan has a BA and an LLB from the University of Ghana and a qualifying certificate from the Ghana School of Law. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association 

  • Caterpillar Financial Services on asset finance transactions involving the provision of debt capital for the purchase of tractors and equipment;
  • Scancom Plc on its corporate restructuring to spinoff its mobile money business as a separate entity to be licensed and operated in accordance with the Payment Systems and Service Act, 2019 (Act 987);
  • GCB Securities Limited/Securities and Exchange Commission for the establishment of a government bailout programme to settle clients of defunct fund management companies whose licences were revoked by the Securities and Exchange Commission;
  • The Ministry of Finance/Ghana Amalgamated Trust Plc, on a legal due diligence and the drafting and negotiation of documents for equity investment in 5 selected indigenous commercial banks which could not meet the Bank of Ghana’s new minimum capital requirements;
  • Daakye Trust Plc on its establishment of a receivables backed bond issuance programme to fund the construction of critical educational infrastructure and the provision of vital services at all levels of the education sector in Ghana.
