Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah.

October 2, 2023

Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah has been adjudged the Capital Markets team of the Year (Medium Sized firm) at the Africa Legal Awards 2023 for the firm’s role in advising on key capital markets transactions including a supply chain financing and management platform for an African technology and financial infrastructure company.

The firm helped the client to design an innovative structure under which a special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be embedded in the supply chain platform to facilitate financing transactions by leveraging the traditional debt capital markets. The SPV will issue debt securities to investors on the platform, list them on the Ghana Fixed Income Market and allow the platform to offer trade finance and purchase immature invoices.

As a result of the deal, the client will have a viable framework under which it may raise up to GHS 5 billion (i.e. approximately USD 455 million) through the issuance of short-term debt securities which may be admitted to trading on the Ghana Fixed Income Market.

The deal is the first of its kind in Ghana and has the potential to provide much needed liquidity to small and medium sized enterprises in the procurement value chain.

This transaction was led by our partners Seth Asante and Frank Nimako Akowuah, with assistance from Jonathan Amable (Senior Associate) and Gifty Aku Hlordjie (Associate).
